I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!
I’ll start with the weekend, when my mom came to visit and we went to see Something Rotten at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center. I am not a big musical/play fan, but I had heard good things about this one so I was on board to go and see it.
It was good although I feel like I probably missed some of the jokes as I am not a big Shakespeare fan or a big play/musical fan. Also, it wasn’t as good as The Bodyguard!
After the play, we went out to dinner and I had this delicious Bistro Steak and veggies. #fueledbybeef
For dessert, I had chocolate cinnamon cookie ice cream and OMG it was fabulous.
On Monday, I went and picked up my race packet for the 4th of July Firecracker 5k race benefitting the YMCA of Middle Tennessee. I love the shirt – very soft and comfy.
On Tuesday morning (July 4th), I got up early to head to the race. This race is one of the Team Beef TN races so it was good to see some familiar faces and to meet some new ones in person for the first time!
It was a hot & muggy morning but the race had a good turnout and we didn’t get rained on (although while running I was thinking “I wouldn’t mind if it rained a little right now” to cool things off!)
This picture makes the weather look more ominous than it was!
After the race, I enjoyed some watermelon, water, and Powerade and hung around waiting for the others to finish the race. (I ran the 5k, while some Team Beefers ran the 10k).
It was a good way to start off the day. Afterwards, I came home and took a shower, refueled, and took a short nap with the pup.
I also saw this Memories post on Facebook from 5 years ago when a friend and I had patriotic margaritas. So festive!
How did you spend your 4th? Any running races?
