It is almost August and I haven’t run a single race yet this year (unless you count the stair climb race?)! Remember that year I set a goal to run a race every month or my 2015 recap that showed I ran 11 races including 3 half marathons and races in 8 new states! What has happened to me??!
2016 was off to a promising start when I got into the drawing for the Big Sur Marathon and began training. But due to injury, I was unable to participate 🙁
So now I have been floundering a bit. I run sometimes but only a few miles at a time but mostly I’ve been taking lots of fitness classes for the Twin Cities Fitness Guide thanks to a wonderful birthday gift from my sister – a month of Class Pass! (I will be writing about my experience and thoughts on Class Pass soon).
I have started looking at the calendar and some possible races to sign up for to get back into it. I signed up for the lottery drawing for the Twin Cities 10 miler race in October but sadly I wasn’t selected. Since the fall and winter are shaping up to be busy with weddings and the holidays, I have now started looking at races for early next year including the Mississippi Blues half marathon in January, Rock n Roll New Orleans in February, Little Rock half marathon in March or joining my friends in a Wizard of Oz themed half marathon in Kansas in April. Decisions, decisions!
That brings me to the question then, am I still a runner? What defines a runner? Someone who runs once in a while, someone who runs regularly, someone who runs races? I am signed up for the MuckFest MS mud run in August so I guess I won’t go raceless for the entire year!
Thanks for listening to my random ramblings. If you have any words of wisdom, please share below in the comments section!
What defines a runner?
Have you done any of the races I’m thinking about? Thoughts?
