On Saturday, I ran the Purity Moosic City Dairy Dash 10k race here in Nashville.
On Friday, I went and picked up my race packet, which included a bright neon green long sleeve technical t-shirt and my race bib.
On race day, I was up bright and early to eat my usual pre-race breakfast of a banana, 1% milk, and a bagel with peanut butter (normally I do two slices of toast, but I didn’t have any so I picked up a bagel from Panera the night before). Took a quick Snapchat photo that I was dressed and ready to go!
The 10k and 15k races began at 8am but the 5k race began at 7:30am. I was meeting up with Team Beef TN members so tried to get to the race around 7am but got delayed in traffic and got there about 7:20am.
We snapped a quick group shot of those we could find and then got ready for the start!
It was a hot morning! I think the temp was in the 60s (at least to start), but the sun was shining bright, there was no shade in sight, and very little wind! The majority of the 10k course ran along the greenway trail, facing into the sun, and it was a struggle!
I kept thinking, “surely we will turn soon and not be running into the sun,” but that didn’t happen until right before mile 5. Also, the first breeze I felt happened at mile 5.5 and lasted only a few seconds. Ugh! I was so glad I only did the 10k.
Post-race, Team Beef TN members met back up and enjoyed some chocolate milk, ice cream, mac & cheese, and meatballs! (I had the chocolate milk and ice cream; it was too hot for the other stuff!).
It’s hard to get everyone together post-race when so much is going on! I think we had 9 members total from Team Beef TN at this race so it was a lot of fun to see some new faces and to catch up with everyone!

Overall, it was a fun race. Running + ice cream = happy Jill!
