It’s Thinking Out Loud Thursday and this TOL post is more a “Things I’m Loving Lately” post.
Master of None Netflix Show
Aziz Ansari’s Netflix series, Master of None, was so good and I am sad that it’s over (for now) and that I have to wait a very long time until another season maybe comes back on. It’s super funny but also totally relatable and I really enjoyed binge watching this show! Aziz and his co-writer have reported that the show is based on real life events so that is why there is a large gap between seasons, because they have to live their lives in order to have more material for the show.
Modern Romance Book
After watching Master of None, I was on an Aziz kick and I found out he had a book, Modern Romance, so I quickly got it from the library. It is a book about how dating and romance has changed over the years and includes science and research, but also includes some humor from Aziz. Similar to Master of None, I found it really enjoyable and interesting, but also totally relatable.
Hidden Figures Movie
On the flight to Alaska, I watched the movie Hidden Figures and it was the BEST movie I have seen in a LONG TIME!! I loved it from start to finish. It is based on a true story about three African American women who worked at NASA and helped to launch the first astronaut into space. It was a really interesting, moving, and emotional movie. So, so good!!
Another movie I saw recently is Gifted. It was the second best movie I have seen in a long time! The story of a child genius who is being raised by her uncle, who is trying to give her a normal childhood. When others get involved, they want to take the child away from her uncle and see what all she can do. Another truly compelling and emotional movie. A++!!!
Healthy Maven Podcast
I’ve listened to several episodes of the Healthy Maven podcast and I have really enjoyed them. In particular, the podcast episode 22 with Robyn, fellow RD and awesome blogger and health practitioner. The whole thing was fabulous, but I especially enjoyed the discussion about getting married and how much pressure brides put on themselves to lose weight or look a certain way on their wedding day. If you or anyone you know is getting married soon or is experiencing this situation or something similar, please listen to this podcast! The wedding discussion begins at 42:00. I also loved episode 11 with Alexis from Hummusapien. I really did not want the episode to end and I really want to be friends with Alexis!
Clif Nut Butter Filled Energy Bars
While traveling to Alaska, I packed a lot of snacks since we would be flying all day with little/no time to get an actual meal. I grabbed some Clif nut butter filled energy bars to try and oh my, they are so tasty! They are not low-calorie by any means, but a great option when you’re needing a filling snack on the go.
That’s all for now! What are some things you are loving lately?
