I hope you had a Merry Christmas and got to enjoy some quality time with loved ones. This time of year goes by so fast!
It’s Thursday and I am linking up with the Thinking Out Loud linkup.
Have you heard about the Frosty Tag at Wendy’s? You pay $2 that goes towards charity (I believe) and then you get a Frosty Tag keychain that gets you a FREE junior frosty for A YEAR! What?! I am all about saving money right now and I love ice cream and frosties so I got on board with this deal! There was a tiny fault in my plan after I purchased it and I realized you get a free frosty with each purchase (i.e. I can’t just show up daily and get a free frosty). But still. Dietitians love free ice cream too!
Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud Lyrics
Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud is one of my favorite songs! But I kept wondering if I was hearing the lyrics right – “And, darling, I will be loving you ’til we’re 70”. 70?! Why only 70?! That’s still pretty young, in my opinion. Thoughts??
I am a sucker for a good quote and this one really resonated with me as I lived in 6-7 states in the past 4 years:
I also saw a great quote while I was traveling in GA and SC earlier this month:
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” – St. Augustine. Love!
Have you ever tried sorghum?! It is a sweetener most commonly used and known about in the south. My sister and I ate at the Loveless Cafe outside of Nashville the other weekend. They have unlimited (free!) biscuits that they serve with their delicious fruit preserves but the waiter also said I needed to try sorghum (because I had not before). Holy moly! I put a tiny bit on a biscuit and I swear I felt it go straight to my bloodstream and straight to my head. It was crazy! I was not a fan of this stuff. I would describe it as honey laced with crack. Here is a photo of the biscuits (sorghum not shown):
Christmas Book Tree
After eating at the Loveless Cafe, my sister and I headed over to McKay’s used book store. I had heard of this place because my sister and mom have been there a few times but I did not realize how big it is! It is huge! They have tons of used books, music, electronics, and more! But I was also delighted by the book Christmas tree they had up. Very cute!
At a family Christmas gathering earlier in the month, my aunt made this delicious peach cheesecake. It was not firm like typical cheesecake but more like a soft cheesecake-like amazingness. So I asked her for the recipe so I could make it. It does not even require baking – it was a mixture of cream cheese, cool whip, and sugar. I love cool whip even though not too long ago I looked at the ingredient list and realized it is a terrible concoction of non-food substances but hey, every now and then it’s ok to endulge!
Major Dilemma Involving Bedding
I discovered something recently that is absolutely mind boggling to me! When it is cold out, I add an extra blanket to my bed. I simply throw it on top of the comforter and that is that. My sister saw my setup and remarked that it was odd but I didn’t think much of it. Then when I was at my parents’ house for Christmas, my mom had made up my bed with the blanket under the comforter so the conversation came up again. EVERYONE in my family said they put the blanket under the comforter. I am just so confused by this! To me, the comforter stays year round (I got rid of the top sheet ridiculousness years ago) and the blanket is temporary. So why would I put extra effort into getting the blanket under the comforter?! Seriously you guys, I am so blown away by this revelation and I still stand by my method and basically think everyone else is crazy now. Thoughts?!
