I saw this fun survey-style blog post over on Chelsea Eats Treats and today I’m sharing my answers!
This or That
Run/workout in the heat and humidity or freezing temps and snow?
Freezing cold temps for sure! The heat and humidity absolutely do me in and make me hate everything! While I don’t like to run on ice or snow, I much prefer cold weather to hot. Here’s me out on a training run last year in Minneapolis:
Dr. Oz or The Doctors?
The Doctors 100%! While I really don’t watch either (actually have probably never seen a full episode of Dr. Oz), I do catch clips of The Doctors on Facebook. And Dr. Travis is very cute 🙂
Cardio or strength?
Usually I would say cardio (running!) all the way but lately I’ve not been in the mood to run so I’ve been doing more strength training. I still don’t have the patience to do long, slow strength workouts but it is fun to lift heavy weights! Running pictures are definitely more fun than strength though!
Cravings: Protein or carbs?
Carbs! Always carbs! Can’t get enough carbs! Mainly sweets, but they often contain carbs. I did once have a really strong craving for milk (which has both carbs and protein) where I literally stood in the fridge chugging milk because I couldn’t get enough. I drank 3 gallons in one week!
Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper?
So hard to choose! I was a big fan of The Biggest Loser (even with all the controversy) and I think both trainers have a lot to offer. I would have to say I heart Bob just a little bit more than Jillian though.
Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream?
Either! I love both. When self serve froyo first came out, I thought it was the greatest thing ever. But I love anything cold and sweet so if I can have either, I’m happy.
To train: Upper body or Lower body?
I would have to say lower body because my legs are strong from running and generally anything cardio involves the legs. That being said, I am trying to be better about strengthening the arms and core to help balance things out and avoid injury!
Protein powder or food with protein?
Food with protein! Always food > supplements. I do add Tera’s Whey protein powder to my morning smoothies, but otherwise food all the way!
Lunges or squats?
Squats! But really neither right now. Squats still get me in the hip flexor and I’m trying to strength my glutes and hamstrings and ease up on the quads.
Sweet or Salty?
Sweet! 100%. Only like once a year maybe do I get a craving for something salty. Otherwise it is always sweets.
Workout attire: cute or comfy?
Both? If I had to choose, definitely comfortable/practical > cute though. Most of my workout gear has come from Target, I’m not going to lie.
Body Pump or Heavy lifting?
Heavy lifting only because I despise Body Pump! I think Body Pump is evil and a terrible way to exercise the body. Really, any fitness class that is not focused on proper technique, form, and injury prevention.
Yoga or Pilates?
I enjoy Pilates more than yoga mainly because it is faster paced and I can feel the burn more often. I have been trying to go to yoga more often though but it’s hard for me to slow down and relax and really enjoy yoga. Jump Pilates was my favorite class when I lived in Minneapolis!
Nike or Adidas?
Neither really, but I have a lot of Adidas clothes from my previous job in Minneapolis. I do like the clothes, but for running shoes, I am Asics all the way!
Running on the treadmill or outdoors?
Outdoors! When I first began running in 2009, I preferred the treadmill but once I made the switch outside I have a hard time now running very long on the treadmill.
Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s?
Trader Joe’s, for sure. I get my frozen fruit for smoothies there because they have the best prices in town! I also enjoy some of their indulgent items, such as mini s’mores and all their delicious pumpkin finds in the fall (the pumpkin rolls… OMG!).
Summer or Winter Olympics?
Summer! I love almost all of the summer sports – swimming, gymnastics, and beach volleyball are my favorite. When I lived in Utah, I went to see some of the Winter Olympics trials and that was pretty awesome (but cold!) but I never got into watching the Winter Olympics.
Steamed veggies or roasted veggies?
Either is fine by me! I probably roast more often than not, but I enjoy steamed veggies when I am out to eat.
That’s all for now! Pick a question or two to answer in the comments below!
It’s Thursday so I’m linking up with Thinking Out Loud.
