Last week was my first full week of
unemployment self employment. Really I would call last week unemployed because I didn’t do much work. I was back home in Indiana to visit with family and friends and be a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding.
But last week was super motivating to make this self employment thing work because I loved the freedom and flexibility I had in my schedule!
I drove from Nashville to Evansville, IN (about 2.5 hours) to see my nephew dressed up for Halloween. Isn’t he so cute? His favorite color is blue so his costume was perfect!
Other than making the drive home, eating lunch with the parents, and seeing my nephew in the evening, I didn’t do a whole lot this day. I call it a recovery day from moving.
Monday I caught up on watching The Voice and read through some blogs I had missed with the big move. I scheduled a couple blog posts. My dad retired back in July so he was home and we took my car up to the self service washing station at his apartment complex and cleaned my car up real good. Then we went out to eat for lunch. In the afternoon, I met my friend Kristi at the YMCA to walk for a bit before going to my first ever hot yoga class. After the gym, I came home and had Spudz n Stuff with mom and dad. I had their chicken bacon ranch spud – so good!
That evening I watched The Voice and read my book, Truly Madly Guilty!!
I also worked on my friend’s wedding gift – this Date Jar idea I got from Chelsea.
Tuesday morning I woke up an hour before my alarm. I did some blogging work and had breakfast before meeting a friend for a walk downtown. It was great to catch up with her. After the walk, I went home to freshen up a bit before heading across town to take my grandma out for lunch. We ate at Olive Garden and had pumpkin cheesecake for dessert – yum!
Early that evening, my mom and I went to see the movie The Girl on The Train. I had read the book so I knew what to expect, but it was still good! The movie theatre has upgraded to recliner seats; very nice!
On Wednesday, my dad and I drove up to visit my other grandma, who lives a little over an hour away. We had lunch with her and then I visited with her while my dad did some yard work. Then we drove back to Evansville and I met up with another good friend and her adorable 2 girls for dinner. I sat by the youngest, who is 4. At first she sat as far away from me as possible, but by the end of dinner she was sitting right next to me.
After dinner, we hit up Orange Leaf for some froyo. They headed home and I headed out to meet up with more friends. What a social day for me! Ended up watching part of the World Series Game 7 even though I’m not a big baseball fan. But once it was almost 11:00pm and the game went into the 10th, we called it a night and headed home. Sleep > baseball game.
I had a phone interview for a possible part-time job in Nashville. Then I had a phone call with a friend before I did a quick workout – Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones DVD (oldie but goodie!). I worked on some blog and social media stuff and caught up on some TV shows. My dad told me about a new show Pure Genius, that he recorded and I watched. It’s about a tech billionaire who builds a hospital that combines the best in technology with the best in medicine. It’s very good!
In the afternoon, I headed out to University of Southern Indiana (USI, one of my alma maters), to meet with my old professor because I will be teaching an online sports nutrition class for them in the spring! I stopped to see the giant photo of myself hanging on the wall from when I went to school there.
Then I headed home and went out to eat with my parents before heading over to check out their new house they just bought! My brother and his family met us at the new house so my nephew had fun running around.
Friday morning I went for a 3 mile run outside and then stopped at the Pactre for cupcakes. Seriously, they have the best cupcakes EVER!
Then I got cleaned up a bit before heading out to help set up for the wedding. Once set up was done, I headed home to shower and get ready for rehearsal that evening. After rehearsal at the church, we all went out for rehearsal dinner.
Saturday was wedding day! We had a full day of wedding festivities. We all got ready at the bride’s parents house. We had hair and makeup done while we ate snacks and sipped on champagne. Then we took a few pictures with the photographer and headed to the church.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding! We had a good time celebrating after the ceremony – good food, good friends, lots of alcohol and dancing the night away!
It was a busy week last week but now I’m heading back to Nashville to get settled and get back into a routine and get a start on this entrepreneurial life!
