Happy Monday! I had a busy weekend so I thought it would be fun to do a weekend recap post today.
I volunteered with the Nashville Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (NAND) Saturday morning doing some gardening work with the Nashville Food Project. I had no idea what we would be doing but I ended up being in the group that helped to move compost around.
We shoveled the compost into wheelbarrows and then pushed them around the garden and up a hill to another location. At first, this did not seem that hard, but after a couple of rounds I was starting to feel the burn and I was definitely sore the next day in my back and arms.
We had a pretty good group show up – dietitians and dietetic students/interns and we had a great morning for it!
The Melting Pot
After gardening and getting cleaned up, my mom came into town and later that night my mom, sister, and I went out to eat at The Melting Pot. I had been there once before many years ago so I was excited to go again!
We started out with our cheese appetizer with bread, fruit and veggies for dipping.
Then I had a small salad with strawberries, slivered almonds, feta cheese, and a vinaigrette dressing. (I should have said no to the salad because this 4-course experience ended up being a lot of food!)
Up next was our main course – veggies, tofu, veggie balls, and little raviolis with vegetable broth for cooking. The asparagus was definitely my fave – so good!
And finally, for our last course (saved the best for last!) was the chocolate!! I love chocolate! We got the regular milk chocolate (you can also get your chocolate with mix-ins) and it came with fruit, brownies, marshmallows, cake, etc. to dip into it. OMG it was too good!
I had to send a Snapchat of this amazing goodness:
From now on, if I go back to The Melting Pot, I am just going straight for the dessert! This was definitely my favorite part of the meal – those brownies were SO GOOD!!
The Bodyguard Musical
After The Melting Pot, we walked over to the Performing Arts Center because we had tickets to see The Bodyguard Musical. I’ve been waiting for months to see this show!! Last weekend, I watched the movie in order to get ready for the show. I forgot how good that movie was! I still loved it even after all these years.
The Bodyguard Musical stars Deborah Cox, who had a hit song back in the 90s, so I was so excited to see her in this musical. While nothing will ever be as good as the movie and Whitney Houston, the musical and Deborah Cox were absolutely phenomenal! It was really good.
Brunch at Graze
Sunday we went and had brunch at Graze. I had the breakfast burrito bowl and it was delicious as usual! It had seitan chorizo, cashew cheese, roasted potatoes, quinoa, spinach, hollandaise and guacamole salad. It was really filling!
Nashville Triathlon Expo
And on Sunday afternoon, I had a table at the Nashville Triathlon Expo – a free expo for triathletes with some great vendors. It was a lot of fun to meet new people, spread the word about my nutrition coaching business, and the Zing bar samples I was giving away at my table were a big hit! Zing bars are made by dietitians and they are delicious and nutritious! I loved spreading the word about them.
The expo was held in a flooring warehouse so it looks like I am selling flooring in this photo LOL.
That’s it from me – how was your weekend?
